50年間も愛好されてきた「キリンラーメン」シリーズ(即席めん、乾麺、菓子など)(小笠原製粉(株))の名称が、このたび変更されることが発表されました。
小笠原製粉(株)のウエブサイトでは、新名称を募集しています。

このウエブサイトには、変更の理由は「諸般の事情」と記載されています。
「諸般の事情」とは何か、つい考えてしまいます。
新名称の条件は、「キ」「リ」「ン」という3文字の連続は、ひらがな、ローマ字、漢字などでも使用できないことだそうです。
ということは、「キリン」という発音が生じる名称は、このラーメンシリーズには、今後一切使用しないことを意味します。「キリン」という名前から考えると、飲料、ビールで有名なキリン(株)との間で、商標に関して何か問題があって名前を変更するのだろうと考えざるを得ません。
キリン(株)は、「KIRIN」(第4180368号)という登録商標(指定商品には、菓子、即席そばの麺を含む「穀物の加工品)が含まれている)を有しており、しかもこの商標に対しては、過去に小笠原製粉(株)が不使用取消審判を請求したが、この取消審判の請求は認められず、キリン(株)の登録商標は取り消されなかったという経緯があります(審判2014－300549号、平成28(行ケ)10093号)。

一方、J-PlatPatで小笠原製粉(株)の名称で商標を検索した結果、現時点では以下の登録商標のみがヒットしました。つまりキリンの図形です。

これだけの情報から、皆さん、何があったか想像してみて下さい。

Ogasawara Flour Milling Co., Ltd. announced that the name of their “Kirin Ramen" series (instant ramen noodles, dried noodles, confectionery, etc.) that has been loved for as many as 50 years will now be changed, and they are requesting submissions for new names on their website:

According to this website, the name “Kirin Ramen" must be changed for “various reasons". I found myself wondering what those “various reasons" are.
The website also says that the new name must not include the three symbols “ki", “ri", and “n" in consecutive order, neither in katakana, hiragana, kanji, Roman lettering, nor any other style type. This means that the name pronounced as “Kirin" will not be used any more for this ramen series. The name “Kirin" inevitably makes me assume that there had been some kind of problem with Kirin Company Limited—the famous beverage and beer manufacturing company.
Actually, Kirin Company owns the registered trademark No. 4180368, the designated goods of which include confectionery and cereal preparations including instant soba noodles. Ogasawara Flour Milling filed a cancellation trial against this trademark on the grounds of non-use; however, the request for this cancellation trial was withdrawn and Kirin Company's registered trademark was not cancelled (Trial No. 2014－300549, Heisei 28 (gyo-ke) No. 10093).

On the other hand, my search through J-PlatPat revealed that Ogasawara Flour Milling has a registered trademark for this giraffe graphic:
