J-PlatPat(特許庁、独立行政法人工業所有権情報・研修館(INPIT))の「特許・実用新案検索」では英語のワードを入力して検索できます。
たとえば「要約/抄録」に「smartphone」を含む特許や特許出願を検索します。
「テキスト検索対象」の「英文」にチェックを入れ、
ヒット件数が多いことを予想して「公知日」を限定します(ここでは、2016/4/1〜2018/6/1)。

外国文献が1551件ヒットしました(2018年7月8日現在)
そうすると、たとえばUS2018/77741のようにAbstractにsmartphoneの用語が出てくるものがヒットしました。

このようなJ-PlatPatの英単語による検索は、特許実務、翻訳などに有効です。

You can search for English words using the “Patent and Utility Model Search" on J-PlatPat (JPO, National Center for Industrial Property Information and Training (INPIT)).
For example, let's search for patents and patent applications that include the English word “smartphone" in the Abstract.
“English" is checked in the “Text Search Target" field.
Many results are expected, so I limited the “Publication Date" (in this case, April 1, 2016 to June 1, 2018).

There were 1,551 hits for foreign documents (as of July 8, 2018).
Of these, for example, the pubication No. US2018/77741 includes the word “smartphone" in the Abstract.
