少し前の話題になりますが、特許庁の検索サイト「J-PlatPat(特許情報プラットフォーム)」(INPIT(独立行政法人工業所有権情報・研修館))が5月にリニューアルされました。
特許実務者や翻訳者にとって欠かせないこのサイトを私は土日を含め毎日、急いだ状態で使っているため、リニューアルされて使い方が変わるよりも、前のバージョンを維持してほしい、というのが正直な気持ちでした。
あのボタンどこいったのかな?このボタン見たことない、などつぶやきながら、試行錯誤する毎日でした。
仕事仲間の多くは、リニューアルは特に気にならない、といっています。新バージョンにようやく慣れてきた今日この頃、私は、J-PlatPatの使いやすい機能に数多く触れています。

「特許・実用新案検索」の「近傍検索」
2つのキーワードが現れる文献を、これらの間隔を指定して検索できます。

例、
有価暗号情報
残高

このキーワードが1文字空けて現れる文献を検索する場合

1. で2つのキーワードを入力し、
2. で「2」を入力します(2は間隔を一つ空けるという意味です)。
3. でキーワード1の次にキーワード2が現れることを指定します。

このように、次の画面で自動的にキーワードが入力されています。
そして、
「有価暗号情報の残高」というフレーズが現れる特許公開公報(特開平2001-76036号)がヒットしました。
「一文字おいて」を指令する際に「2」を入力するのは、最初のキーワードから「2文字目」という意味でしょう。

今後も折に触れてJ-PlatPatの機能を紹介します。

The Japan Patent Office (JPO) search site, Japan Platform for Patent Information (J-PlatPat) (National Center for Industrial Property information and Training (INPIT)) was renewed in May.
To be honest, I would rather keep using the prior version of this website that is essential for patent practitioners or translators, which I also use in haste every day including on weekends, than the renewed version with its functional changes.
I went through repeated processes of trial and error to find new buttons instead of the old buttons, and found new buttons which I had never used before.
Many of my colleagues appear not to care about the renewal.
Recently, I managed to get accustomed to the new version of J-PlatPat and have come in contact with many of its convenient functions.

“Proximity Search” of “Patent/Utility Model Search”
This searches for documents in which two keywords appear, designating intervals between the keywords.

Example:
valuable cipher information
balance

If searching for documents in which these keywords are placed between one letter,
input these keywords in 1), and
input “2” in 2), and click on “Decision” (“2” means placing one interval)

Like this, the keywords have already been input automatically on the next screen, and a patent laying-open official gazette (No. 2001-76036) in which a phrase “balance of valuable cipher information” appears as a hit.
Input “2” to command “between one letter” means “the second letter” from the first keyword.
