9月6日～8日は、翻訳フォーラムが滋賀県長浜で開催され、参加しました。
技術翻訳の権威である富井篤先生が長年開催してきた翻訳フォーラムを引き継いだものです。

技術用語の訳語、AI翻訳の限界、翻訳会社独立、翻訳会社が求める翻訳者像

ほかAI時代を見据えた翻訳の話がプレゼンが数多くされました。
また、アメリカ、オーストリア在住の日本人翻訳者と接続して、Zoomセッションも行われました。米、豪では大学で翻訳講義が行われ、海外では、翻訳学という学問が確立し、大学学位も取得できるそうです。

このプレゼンの結論としては、たとえAIが翻訳するようになっても、完全に人間と同じように翻訳するのは無理である、ということです。

など機械翻訳のサイト、ツールがふえるなか、ほとんどチェックの不要な質の高い翻訳ができる人間翻訳者がこれからも求められるという結論に達しました。

A translation forum in which I participated was held in Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture, from September 6 to 8.
This forum is a succession of a forum that had been held by Atsushi Tomii, who has been an authority on technical translation for many years.

Many presentations were made, on translated words of technical terms, limitations of AI translation, establishing a translation company, preferable translators for translation agencies, and other topics in preparation for the AI age.

A Zoom session with Japanese translators in the U.S. and Australia was held over the Internet, from which I learned that translation lectures are given at U.S. and Australian universities, translation has been established as an academic discipline, and that such degrees can be obtained in foreign countries.

We reached the conclusion that even though AI translation will become prevalent, this cannot completely replace human translators.
Although machine translation sites or tools such as those listed below have increased, human translators who can complete high-quality translation requiring little postediting will still be required.
