American Translators Association (ATA)のAnnual MeetingであるATA61が行われました。

毎年アメリカのいずれかの都市で行われていましたが、今年はWeb ミーティングでした。126ものセッションが行われ、そのなかでも注目すべきセッションは、
Interpreting Japanese, Legal T&I
であり、私がZoomでチャットする仲間である在外日本人通訳者の女性たちによるセッションです。日本語部会では毎年、ディナーパーティが行われていましたが、今年は、ウエブ飲み会が行われたそうです。

そして11月はJTF（日本翻訳連盟）開催の翻訳祭です。

(株)インターブックス社長である松元洋一氏が理事を務められる日本翻訳連盟の翻訳祭で私も登壇します。これもWeb会議です。テーマは次の通りです。

ATA61, the Annual Meeting of the American Translators Association (ATA), was held this month.

The meeting is normally held each year in a U.S. city, but this year the meeting was held online. It included as many as 126 sessions, and the most notable among these was “Interpreting English, Legal T&I,” held by my colleagues, Japanese interpreters living in the U.S. who I chat with on Zoom. The Japanese Language Division usually holds a dinner party every year, but this year they held a drinking party online.

Also, JTF (Japan Translation Federation) will hold its Translation Festival in November.

I will be one of the speakers at the festival, which is chaired by Mr. Yoichi Matsumoto, president of Interbooks Co., Ltd. and a director of JTF. This will also be an online conference. The topics of my seminar will be:

• What is patent translation?
• Documents translated in patent translation
• Overview of the patent system
• Required English grammar for patent translation
• Required rules for patent translation
• Actual experience translating patents
